The Npower scheme that was introduced by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2016; taking the first set of volunteers called Batch A and that of 2017 called Batch B will come to an end sooner.

This news had been running around the net as a rumor for some months until recently when the supports team affirmed the fact that the existing beneficiaries would have to wave goodbye to the scheme.
Accordingly, these volunteers will be laid off from Npower by June 30 and July 31 for the Batch A and B respectively.

And of course, the scheme has promised to transit these disengaged beneficiaries into another program. The program expected to be Small and Medium/Scale Enterprises (SME) or businesses.
The nature of the transition program has not been fully communicated as the support team had vowed to get back to the members of the scheme in due course.

Reacting to this layoff, a few members of the scheme were not happy about the decision of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development to let go of the beneficiaries as at now especially for the Batch B.
Don’t forget that, the batch B will not be given the opportunity to circle their terms of 24 months of the scheme as originally promised. However, the Batch A had spent beyond their 24 months and by June ending should have earned for 42 months. Source: The Vanguard Online.

However, this decision, according to a report, was to allow the ministry to accommodate a new set of Npower Beneficiaries starting for June 26, when another application is expected to start nationwide. To fill the new Npower application, click here.
The disengagement of the Npower volunteers now calls for outstanding issues. Affected beneficiaries are now clamoring about the outstanding payment issues and other related matters.
This was one of the complaints about payment issues. This was acknowledged by the support team and was promised to be attended to.
By June 20, Npower was still addressing this on their Twitter handle to confirm that all the outstanding payments will be settled. With no, negative reactions to this update, as at the time of this report, it’s safe to assume that the promise was real.
