You’re on the right page if you want to do DE regularization or you need an answer to: Can I register for DE without regularization? Or you want to know if all intending DE applicants must register for it? Or you want to know if regularization can be done twice, the requirements for it, and what the indemnity form is like.

If you’re hearing about JAMB regularization for the first time, you may first consider reading my post, “JAMB Regularization Compulsory? Steps/Procedures for NYSC, DE and HND Admissions”. That post was more detailed than anything else online regards the exercise called JAMB regularization.

However, this you’re reading means to answer questions applicants for Direct entry want answers to almost immediately.

If you’re on this page because you want to check or verify the JAMB Matriculation list, consider reading this. It is a guide on how to check the matriculation list on the JAMB Portal and solutions to certain issues you may be facing.

Now, let’s get to work.

What is JAMB Regularization for Direct Entry Applicants?

First, what is JAMB Regularization? This is the official exercise by JAMB to regularize admissions of candidates who had not earlier been admitted through JAMB or admitted through JAMB but with certain deficiencies such as being offered admission by a different school from the one JAMB has a record of. Or you’re admitted for a different course from the one on the JAMB admission letter.

The first question that comes to the mind of a DE applicant hearing about regularization for the first time is, “is the regularization for all candidates seeking direct entry admissions?

The answer to that is NO.

If you’d gained your first admission through JAMB and your JAMB admission letter is available containing the same course and school with which you’d completed your studies, you won’t need JAMB regularization again.

The exercise is meant for candidates who were:

  1. not offered admissions through JAMB for their ND, NCE, BSC, etc. In other words, candidates who were given admissions directly by their schools (but not by JAMB).
  2. offered admissions through JAMB but not by the school where they actually had their ND, NCE, etc. That is, a different school offered you admission on JAMB CAPs but you went to another school instead.
  3. offered ND, NCE admission through daily part-time, DPP, DPT, or similar programme.

If you fall into any of the situations above, kindly, in your own interest, do regularization before the DE application.

Those who don’t fall to any of the categories above, don’t need JAMB regularization before proceeding with Direct Entry registration. In other words, you’re offered admission through JAMB and you had your NCE or ND at the school of the offer.

Do IJMB, JUPEB, NABTEB A’level or Cambridge Candidates Need Regularization?

Those seeking Direct Entry admissions using their IJMB or any of the above mentioned advanced courses, will not be required to do regularization. Hence, they should just proceed to CBT centres to obtain e-PIN and register.

When will the Regularization Application start?

As a matter of fact, regularization is a continual exercise. In other words, no starting date or closing date. Just visit a café or CBT centre when you need to register and process it.

How much is the Regularization Application?

The official price is N5,000. This doesn’t include the online Remita charge and café or CBT service charge. Applicants should prepare around N7,000 for all. See How To Make Remita Payment at Bank and Online: Quick Guide.

What are the Other Processes after the registration online?

You must submit your printed slips called the JAMB regularisation indemnity form/slip to the school where you had your ND or NCE for further processing. This school will sign and stamp their parts and send it to the nearest JAMB for confirmation and approval.

When is the closing date for JAMB regularization?

As earlier said, no closing date. It’s a round-the-clock exercise. However, since you need the registration because of your DE application, you must register it and take other processes before the DE closes or before it even starts. This is is because it may take a few weeks on months before the approval is completed.

How will I know JAMB has approved my application?

JAMB should contact you through your email when the regularization has been approved. Such a message will contain your approved JAMB registration number. This, you will need during DE registration or later for your NYSC registration. But if you register it on the JAMB registration number you already have, they won’t need to send another number to you. The existing one will be approved instead.

Can JAMB regularization be done twice?

Actually No. But there’s a situation that can call for that. See the explanation below.

If you’d done regularization in the last two years, you might have used the latest method for the exercise. In this case, you don’t have to re-register for regularization.

However, if you had long done the exercise in about four years i.e before the current method, you may have to register it again to have your record in the JAMB latest database. The old method was manual registration by the individual schools. Now, we have online registration instead.

The point above affects some students whose regularizations were done manually by their institutions. Such a method is not allowed any longer. Registration has to be redone online.
