Yobe State University (YSU) Resumption Date for Continuation of 2019/2020 Academic Session has been Announced.

This is to inform all staff and students of Yobe State University that, the University Senate had at its special meeting held on Wednesday 13 January 2021 approved Monday 18 January 2021 as the resumption date for all academic activities.

All students are mandated to check the YSU revised academic calendar for 2019/2020 Session.

The Senate of the Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK), has approved Monday, January 18, 2021, as the resumption date for the continuation of its 2019/2020 Academic session.

Abdullahi Abba-Hassan, Head of Information, Publications and Public Relations Unit of the university, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday, in Kano.

The Senate made the decision at its 35th special meeting held on Jan. 14, 2021, which was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University and Chairman of the University’s Senate, Prof. Mukhtar Kurawa.

“The resolution is in line with the directive of the Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on the reopening of all tertiary institutions in the state effective from Jan. 18, 2021.”

“Recalls that the closure of the university was due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, as well as the recently called off strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),”, Abba Hassan said.

“According to the revised academic calendar, continuation of registration for the session and that of the First Semester Lectures will begin on the resumption date.”

He said the students are to strictly adhere to all safety precautions, protocols and guidelines put in place by the university with a view to containing and preventing the spread of the COVID-19.

‘’The students and the entire University Community are enjoined to wear facemasks, observe social distancing and wash their hands at the designated points in all the campuses of the university,’’ the statement added.

This is to inform staff and students of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) that further to the directive of the Federal Ministry of Education dated 14th January 2021 academic activities in the college will commence on January 18, 2021.

All staff and students are to adhere strictly to the following COVID-19 protocols.

  1. Compulsory wearing of face masks by staff and students
  2. Regular temperature checks and handwashing using facilities provided by the college.
  3. Constant use of sanitizer
  4. Maintaining of social distancing
  5. Overcrowding and large gathering within the college are hereby prohibited
  6. There must be adherence to all non-pharmaceutical continent measures as may be prescribed/approved by the presidential task force (PTF) from time.

Necessary facilities have also been provided to handle suspected cases of COVID-19

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) new resumption date for the continuation of 2019/2020 session is 18th and 25th January 2021 for postgraduate and undergraduate students respectively.

Detailed details of the resumption:

This is to inform the Staff, Students, and the general public that the Senate of the University of Nigeria at its 404th (Emergency) Meeting held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 approved the resumption of academic activities for the remaining part of 2019/2020 session as follows:

  • Postgraduate Students – Monday, January 18, 2021
  • Undergraduate Students – Monday, January 25, 2021

The University Administration will ensure strict adherence to prescribed NCDC protocols for the safety of both staff and students of the University. Consequently, students are to note the following:

  • All Students must wear face masks and carry hand sanitizers before they will be allowed access to hostels, classrooms, and an office in the University;
  • Students are expected to utilize the handwashing materials provided in designated places in the University to wash their hands properly as they gain entry and depart various places;
  • Students must comply with social distancing rules;
  • Students are advised to strictly observe hostel rules to avoid overcrowding in the hostels;
  • Students are to use ICT tools such as official emails, WhatsApp, text messages and phone calls to avoid overcrowding;
  • Infrared thermometers will be provided to check the temperature of students before entry into hostels and lecture halls. Students with temperature above tolerable levels or exhibit other symptoms of corona virus will be referred to the University’s medical facilities.

The UNN revised academic calendar will be released in due course.

UNIZIK Resumption Date for Continuation of 2019/2020 Session

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, (UNIZIK) Resumption Date for Continuation of 2019/2020 Academic Session has been announced.

This is to inform all fresh and returning full-time undergraduate students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, (UNIZIK) that the new resumption date for the continuation of 2019/2020 session is Monday, 4th January 2021.

However, the school will commence lectures on Monday 11th January 2021. The lectures will be online. The first-semesterexam will commence on 15th February 2021.

The school has also fixed Monday 26th July 2021 as the resumption date for 2020/2021 academic session.
